Marble Care
Marble in a bathroom has a beauty all of its own and is very well suited. It can also take a beating. Vanity units and worktops can become stained and pitted. Wall tiles can begin to have calcium deposits from the calcium rich water we find in this area of Spain. With proper care, much of this can be avoided. Always use marble safe cleaning products. Marble installed outside, in our opinion, is never a good idea given the closeness to the sea. The salt air can turn areas of crema marfil marble dark brown. These stains can go so deep into the marble that they are impossible to remove. Also, polished marble is very slippery when wet, and many people are injured by falling each year. We recommend grinding existing marble to a matte finish and applying a protective sealer.
Marble staircases in Spain can be dangerous at the best of times. We recommend applying a non-slip product after polishing. Some people with children or elderly relatives prefer to carpet their stairs. (for carpet see our sister company)
